Tri-Achnid is one of those rare games that one discovers on the Internet, rather than being led to it–like a gem in the darkness. I don’t remember exactly how I came across this game, but I’ve loved it from the moment I started playing.

Sonic Generations – A Review

Platform: Xbox 360, PS3, PC (Reviewed)
Release: 2011
Developer: Sonic Team
Publisher: Sega
Genre: Platformer, Action Adventure

In recent years, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has been somewhat of a joke among gamers as each new Sonic game produced has been met with almost universal dislike by both reviewers and gamers.

Sonic Generations changes all that. At long last, we have a Sonic game that returns to the fun, fast paced gameplay that made Sonic popular back when the series first began, while cutting down on the weak mechanics and other annoyances that have kept recent games from being considered any good. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – A Reveiw

Kotor
Platform: Xbox, PS2, PC
Release: 2003
Developer: BioWare
Publisher: Lucasarts

Hello.  I am Noghiri, and this is my first post and review.

Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR for short) is my favorite game.  Not the Absolute Best game I have ever played, but still my favorite for various reasons.  It has decent voice acting, is old enough that almost anyone can run it at maximum settings, and has a story with several sub-plots, all controllable by your actions.

The game follows you as you try to find the Star Forge, a massive space station built by an ancient race, and to stop the Sith army from destroying the Old Republic.  The events of this game take place about 1000 years before Star Wars: A New Hope.  You must fight many enemies in your quest, and level up to gain new abilities.  There are many items that can be worn or used, as well as grenades and other weapons.  High quality weapons and armor can also be modified using other items.  Lightsabers, especially, can be made much more powerful by the addition of crystals.   Continue reading

PS Vita in Danger?

If you are reading this, whoever you are, you have stumbled upon my first article for the inevitably famous and well-known gaming website prosquid. As this is my first post, I wasn’t really sure what to write about, but what I kept coming back to was the very recent launch of the PlayStation Vita in Japan. A launch for a system that could fundamentally change the dynamics of the video game industry as we know it. Will the future of handheld gaming remain a mix of dedicated handheld gaming machines and smartphones? Or will handheld gaming go the way of the dinosaur, and get killed off by a crushing smartphone meteor? Read on as I explain why the PS Vita represents a “make or break” moment for the survival of the handheld gaming industry as we know it.

Earth Defense Force: 2017 – A Review

Platform: Xbox 360
Release: 2007
Developer: Sandlot
Publisher: D3

Earth Defense Force: 2017 is possibly my favorite video game of all time. Before you come running at me with pitchforks in hand for my favorite game not being Ocarina of Time or something of that sort, let me clarify something: By no means is EDF:2017 the best game I’ve had the pleasure of playing. It’s actually not even close (that game being Super Smash Bros. Melee, but I’ll get into that another time). Earth Defense Force is the video game equivalent of a B movie. If you can look past the mediocre story, laughable voice acting, and the dozens of other quirks, you will no doubt have a fantastic time.
